Manchester United have been in contact with Lazio over the price and availability of Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva, according to Italian newspaper Il Messagerro.
Despite the Daily Express claiming the attacking midfielder is a £20m target for Liverpool, the Italian press are linking the talented midfielder with a move elsewhere and for far more money that originally reported.
Il Messagerro suggest Candreva, 27, is not only being watched by PSG and Atletico Madrid but also Manchester United, all of whom have been in touch with Lazio to discuss a fee.
Following his impressive display against England on Saturday night, interest has apparently grown in the man who scored 12 goals and had nine assists in Serie A last term, with a new fee in the region of €40m now the asking price.
Il Messagerro also reports that Lazio President Claudio Lotito said Candreva “cannot be touched” for anything less than the huge €40m fee.
Of course, Candreva could be another victim of performing well in a single match and being instantly linked with a move to Manchester United.
We’ll keep an eye out for any more progress on this story in the Italian press.
