Reports – Manchester United star heading for likely exit

Stories have surfaced in both England and Portugal linking Manchester United winger Luis Nani with a move away from Old Traffor, and Inter Milan and Benfica are seemingly favourites for his signature.

Jamie Anderson of the Daily Star, sparked the latest stories on 20 June when he claimed the arrival of Louis van Gaal could lead to ‘United chiefs being keen to remove him (Nani) from the wage bill.’

Paul Gorst of the Daily Mirror, followed up this story on 23 June, saying that Inter and Benfica both thoguht a £12m bid will be enough to tempt United into selling the Portuguese international.

Portuguese newspaper Record have also picked up the story, citing that Inter’s failed attempts to negotiate a loan move for Manchester City’s Stevan Jovetic will lead them to offer €15m for the services of the United winger.

Nani, 27, has endured some difficult times recently at United with only 34 appearances and four goals in the past two seasons thanks to injury. Despite signing a new five-year deal at the start of David Moyes’ reign, there is a general feeling that Nani’s place in Louis van Gaal‘s squad is far from secure.

He has never fully realised his potential since joining United from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 and it is possible that United will look to cut their losses on the once promising Portuguese winger. Equally, Nani could be looking for a move away from the club in a bid to revive his stuttering career.
