Nani has revealed he has options to leave Manchester United this summer but at this point is undecided as to what he wants to do.
The 27-year-old scored Portugal’s opening goal at the World Cup but was unable to help them progress to the World Cup knock-out rounds with some ineffective performances.
At United, Nani has played very little football over the past two seasons because of injury problems and now that Louis van Gaal has come in as manager, his future at the club is in doubt, something which Nani reaffirmed with his comments.
“I’ve other options. I’ll evaluate when I get home. Back to Portugal? I don’t know,” he said.
The jury is out on whether Nani should be part of Van Gaal’s plans. Every United fan knows that on his day he can be devastating but ever since his injury problems began, he has never been able to get back to his best form on a consistent basis, much like Antonio Valencia who has recently been awarded a new contract.
On the flip side, a player like Nani could thrive underneath Van Gaal given that he loves to have the ball at his feet but with the likes of Mata, Kagawa, Rooney and Januzaj all vying for spots in attack, it remains to be seen whether Van Gaal will want to keep Nani as part of his plans.
