Arturo Vidal proves he’s the perfect signing for Manchester United

by Sam Peoples

Arturo Vidal has been a bionic man for Chile at this World Cup and his performance against Brazil today was outstanding.

Despite not being fully fit as he underwent a knee operation before the World Cup, Vidal was tireless and until he went off just before 90 minutes, he was the heartbeat of Chile.

What’s more impressive was that Vidal played in a more advanced role than his usual central midfield position but was just as composed as ever.

United have secured Ander Herrera but the need for a box to box, ball winning, energetic midfielder to compliment the Spaniard is still needed and there is no better player in that position than Vidal.

Here is what United fans thought of his performance against Brazil:

Vidal is this good when he isn’t fully fit but he is even better when firing on all cylinders which is a scary prospect.

United have never replaced Roy Keane since he left in 2005 and although there have been plenty of names labelled as the ‘new Keane’, Vidal really could be just that for United.

Chile were desperately unlucky to go out on penalties to Brazil but United should strike while the iron is hot. Ed Woodward, get on the phone.
