Scholes loves Kroos and wants Manchester United to sign him

Paul Scholes has continued his Toni Kroos charm offensive by once again singling him out as the midfielder who Manchester United simply must sign this summer.

Back in May, Scholes was very vocal in his appreciation for Kroos when he labelled the German as the first player he’d sign if he were United’s manager.

“The first player I’d bring in is Toni Kroos,” Scholes said.

“He’s a top-class central midfield player but United need five or six to get anywhere near the top of the Premier League again.”

Now, in his latest Paddy Power column, Scholes has swooned over Kroos once more, hailing his ability to dictate a game with panache and vision as something that no current United midfielder can offer. He said: “I love watching Toni Kroos. I think he’s brilliant. I love the way he controls the ball and controls games. He can really play a pass and has superb vision.

“Kroos is capable of scoring goals too, from outside the box on either foot. I just wish Man United had signed him (Yes, it is good to see United bringing in new players, but they haven’t signed anything like the quality of Kroos).”

It’s no surprise that Scholes is a big fan of Kroos’ ability to control games because it was that characteristic which made Scholes such an incredible midfielder for United and for many United fans, it was Kroos’ performance away to Arsenal last season which really showcased his ability to orchestrate the tempo of the game.

Scholes is right to swoon over Kroos, just like United fans have been since we were linked to him in January, but a move for him is looking increasingly unlikely. That being said, if Scholes were to pick up the phone and try to persuade Kroos himself, it could do the trick.
