Man United on alert as Real Madrid prepared to sell Angel di Maria

Angel di María has admitted that his future is uncertain with Real Madrid, amid heavy speculation linking Manchester United with a move for the winger.

According to AS, the Argentine feels undervalued by the club and has asked for a transfer and his potential exit from Madrid has loomed for over a year, so a departure this summer would come as no surprise despite his excellent form last season.

Manchester United, Monaco, PSG, Manchester City and Juventus have all been linked with him and a fee of €50m has been quoted, a figure which is high given that it is clear Di Maria is happy to push for an exit.

“I still don’t know if I’ll stay at Madrid. I’m happy, but we’ll see what happens,” Di María said this week.

Di Maria offered to leave the Santiago Bernabéu in December having been pushed down the pecking order by Gareth Bale. Madrid refused to let the winger leave and both reaped the benefits on route to securing La Decima.

Monaco appear to be the frontrunners for Di María’s signature at the moment with James Rodríguez being mooted as a possible replacement.

With Nani’s future at Old Trafford uncertain, Di María would be a perfect replacement. The 26-year-old was named man of the match for the Champions League final and although he can be frustrating at times, attempting unnecessary tricks and showboating, he is undoubtedly a big game player who can provide a moment of magic.

Whether United do decide to switch the personnel with our wingers remains to be seen but Di Maria is certainly available for the right price this summer.
