Manchester United and Juventus have held preliminary talks about a potential deal for Arturo Vidal but no negotiations have begun, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Juventus do not want to sell Vidal but it won’t deter United in their pursuit of him and he will remain a target this summer.
Vidal, 27, has been heavily linked to United by the British and foreign press with figures of €40m and €60m being placed on his head by separate reports, thanks in part to his fantastic form for Chile at the World Cup.
While no figures have been confirmed or denied, what is clear is that United are indeed actively pursuing Vidal and he is likely one of the players Andy Mitten suggested United were looking to sign.
It is no surprise to hear that Juventus don’t want to sell but that means nothing in modern football. No football team wants to sell their best players but an offer too good to refuse changes everything.
Vidal is unlikely to force a move away from Juventus given how much he loves the club which means the only way United have any chance of signing Vidal this year is if we do put in a substantial offer Juventus simply can’t turn down. Over to you, Ed Woodward.
