Toni Kroos confirms he will join Real Madrid

Toni Kroos has ended speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United this summer by saying he is going to join Real Madrid.

Kroos, 24, confirmed the news when speaking after Germany’s World Cup victory over Argentina and it completes one of the longest sagas of the year so far.

Rumours linking Kroos with a move to United began in earnest back in January after David Moyes was spotted in Germany talking to Kroos’ representative but he’ll be calling the Santiago Bernabeu home next season rather than Old Trafford.

“We’ve finished the World Cup in the best way possible. Now I’m going to Madrid, so that’s two dreams achieved,” Kroos told UOL.

That being said, his agent Volker Struth adamantly denied a deal was already confirmed. “It has not yet been decided where Kroos’ future lies, I can guarantee that,” Struth said on the contrary.

Struth may be denying a deal is already confirmed but by the looks of things, Kroos has simply just the cat out of the bag a bit prematurely.

It was a well known fact that Kroos was one of Moyes’ top targets this summer but Louis van Gaal clearly decided against a move for him, regardless of the fact he will only cost a reported €20m. If Van Gaal really didn’t want Kroos for that price, then he must have a midfield ace up his sleeve that we’ll all find out in due course.
