Report – Manchester United offer Vidal €7m net per year but he wants more

by Sam Peoples

Arturo Vidal wants €10m a year to play for Manchester United but the club are want to offer €7m plus bonuses, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

After rumours of negotiations between the clubs and deals being agreed, Pedulla’s discussion with regards to the wages would indicate a fee had already been agreed (for some insight into Pedulla’s track record as a journalist, click here).

Given the quality of Vidal, his wages were always going to be at the top end of United’s wage structure and if Pedulla’s claims are correct, €10m a year works out to roughly £165,000 a week after tax.

Those sorts of wages would immediately make Vidal one of the top earners at United which could come with its own problems but a player of his calibre deserves it, especially when you consider Ashley Young is on £120,000 a week.

United are very sound financially as Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra and Giggs will be off United’s books which will bring in a huge chunk of the money needed, not to mention the likes of Young, Nani, Anderson and Bebe who could all be sold as well.

The good thing about Vidal is that whatever money is waved at him, United will be able to afford thanks to new sponsorship ventures incoming TV rights amongst other things, including the money that has already been made available in the current squad.
