Footage has emerged of Louis Van Gaal‘s first training session as Manchester United manager and fans will be heartened to have seen so many youngsters involved.

Senior squad members Rafael, Darren Fletcher, Jonny Evans, Ashley Young, Anders Lindegaard and Tom Cleverley were joined by new boy Ander Herrera and younger lads who are vying for places in Van Gaal’s preseason tour squad.

Given that information about the youth teams is sometimes hard to come by the video, and more importantly the players shown in the video, confirm those who have agreed new deals with the club.

The Peoples Person previously confirmed that six players signed professional terms. We now know that Reece James, Joe Rothwell, Tyler Blackett, Will Keane, Tom Thorpe, Tom Lawrence and Joe Rothwell are staying with the club.

Wilfried Zaha, Marnick Vermijl, Davidé Petrucci, Jesse Lingard, Sam Johnstone, Michael Keane, Ben Amos and Angelo Henriquez were all back having each spent time away on loan last season.

Denzil Haroun Player of the Year Saidy Janko was joined by fellow Under-21s player Andreas Pereira as they also took part in the first team training session.

With pre-season fixtures arranged for both the Under-18s and Under-21s, a number of players will unfortunately not be going on the pre-season tour to the USA, but Van Gaal’s willingness to see them involved points to the inclusion of youth to some degree in the squad.

Overall it seems that Van Gaal is aiming for more integration between the different age groups, having reportedly decreed that it is now compulsory for the first team squad to have a meal with the youth players and coaching staff at 1pm every day.
