Two Dutch players heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer have completed moves elsewhere this week.
Right back Daryl Janmaat and centre back Bruno Martins Indi were both named as potential targets for new United boss Luis van Gaal in a bid to rebuild the Old Trafford squad, but will not be part o the Dutchman’s revolution.
It has been confirmed that Janmaat, 24, has moved to the Premier League having joined Alan Pardew’s Newcastle, whereas 22-year-old Martins Indi has opted for Portuguese giants FC Porto.
It was never in doubt that half of Van Gaal’s Holland squad would be linked with moves to Old Trafford once he accepted his role as United manager, but neither will be moving to United.
Other members of Van Gaal’s World Cup squad linked with a move to United include Stefan de Vrij, Jordy Clasie, Daley Blind, Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sneijder and all could still potentially move
