Rio Ferdinand is close to being officially confirmed as a QPR player after successfully completing his medical.
Ferdinand, 35, left Old Trafford this summer on a free transfer after spending over a decade with the club and has chosen to remain in the Premier League with QPR.
Many expected Ferdinand to move abroad for a bumper pay day but he maintains that he is still fit enough for the rigours of the Premier League, something which QPR have obliged in giving him.
Pending a contract being signed, Ferdinand could be unveiled as a QPR player later today.
Ferdinand’s quality in a United shirt may have tailed off last year but in the 2012/13 season, he earned himself a place in the Team of the Year after turning back the clocks with a fantastic campaign.
In his pomp, he was one of the best defenders United have ever had and we wish him the best of luck at QPR.
