Dutch defender Daley Blind has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United after an impressive World Cup and his agent has now confirmed there are several clubs interested in signing him this summer.
Combined with his great performances out in Brazil, Blind, 24, signed a new contract with Ajax last year so he wouldn’t be cheap but his form has led to other clubs such as Barcelona also being linked with him.
Speaking to Voetbal International, his agent said there were no offers for him yet but left the door for a move away from Ajax firmly open.
“At the moment there is nothing concrete but the rumours of today could very well be tomorrow’s reality,” he said.
“There are many clubs interested in Daley. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when the transfer market shakes up.”
Frank de Boer stated earlier this week that he hoped Blind would remain at the club and it puts the defender in a great position to negotiate.
Whether it is simply a ploy to chase a bigger contract on the back of his World Cup performances remain to be seen but the fact Blind’s agent is openly welcoming interest from other clubs suggests he’s happy to consider leaving Ajax.
Capable as both a defensive midfielder and left-back, Blind’s versatility could be perfect for United and with Van Gaal likely to bring in at least one of his Dutch squad this summer, there’s every chance Blind could be on Van Gaal’s wanted list.
