Atletico Madrid interested in signing Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez

Despite flying to the United States to join the Manchester United tour, Mexican striker Javier Hernandez is being chased by Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.

Reports coming from Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that Atletico are looking to begin negotiations with United to take Chicharito to the Vicente Calderon.

A Bola suggest the story has come from ESPN Mexico who say Diego Simeone would like to add the fire power of Hernandez to his squad having lost last season’s top scorer Diego Costa to Chelsea.

Hernandez is also a target of Italian giants Inter Milan where his former United team mate and club captain Nemanja Vidic recently moved to and the Serbian has urged Inter to make a move for him. “Obviously Chicharito will be a good signing for every club and we’d be glad to have him,” he said.

At United, Hernandez has failed to make a first team spot his own at Old Trafford and is believed to be surplus to requirements under the new Louis Van Gaal regime.

The Dutchman said he’d give him time to prove his worth but he may well be likely to join a host of stars heading out of the exit door over the coming weeks.

Tottenham are also rumoured to be interested in the services of the striker who would command a fee likely to be in the region of £15m.
