Manchester United transfer news: Barca and United in for Vermaelen, Cuadrado seeking exit, Juventus set Vidal deadline

by Sam Peoples

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer gossip from around the web including United’s pursuit of Thomas Vermaelen, Juan Cuadrado and Arturo Vidal.

Arsene Wenger’s confirmation of United’s bid for Vermaelen put us firmly in the running for the Belgian centre-back but today, multiple reputable sources indicated Barcelona were poised to sign Vermaelen for £15m.

The jury remains out on whether Vermaelen would be a good signing for United given his injury record but with Barcelona now reportedly leading the way for his signature, United may have to look elsewhere regardless.

The Italian press have today suggested Arturo Vidal has been given an ultimatum by Juventus to decide whether he wants to stay at the club by the end of next week. With the season fast approaching, it would come as no surprise if Juventus want to resolve Vidal’s future as soon as possible.

The Manchester Evening News are reporting that United have decided not to pursue Mats Hummels and instead consider Daley Blind a better fit as he is left footed. The Dutchman has consistently been linked to United ever since Louis van Gaal took over and he has been training on his own with Ajax, a move away from the Eredivisie side wouldn’t come as a surprise.

There has been a big update with the future of Juan Cuadrado as Fiorentina boss Della Valle  has revealed the club are willing to let him go for the right price and that he wants a move to further his career.
