VIDEO: Giggs scores brilliant Panenka penalty vs Salford City

Ryan Giggs may have called time on his Manchester United career this summer in order to fully focus on his new assistant manager role under Louis van Gaal but he’s clearly not lost his touch.

Last night against Salford City, Giggs scored the only goal for the Class of ’92 with a brilliant Panenka penalty that typified the deft touch Giggs showed over his United career.

Check out the video here:

Unfortunately for Giggs, it was the only goal of the game for the Class of ’92 as Salford City won 5-1 but the night was all about the occasion, not the result.

One person who won’t be surprised by Giggs’ penalty is Sir Alex Ferguson as the Scotsman famously said Giggs is probably the best penalty taker he ever had at United, high praise indeed given the records of Denis Irwin and Eric Cantona at United.

“I think Giggs is probably the best penalty-taker,” Fergie said back in 2012.

“I can’t ever remember him missing since he had one saved against Southampton in the FA Cup in 1992. But he doesn’t play every week. Maybe I’ll bring him on like in American Football games!”
