U21s Preview: Manchester United vs Norwich City

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United will kick of their new Premier League season with a home fixture against Norwich City at the newly appointed home venue of the United youngsters, Leigh Sports Village.

The last time the two sides met, the match ended in a 2-2 stalemate with United then going on to the final in which the game ended 2-1 to Chelsea, with a late winner sealing the tie.

Silverware has already touched the hands of the United youngsters this season thanks to a very emphatic 4-1 win over Manchester City last week in the Manchester Senior Cup final.

James Wilson had the game of his life with four excellent goals in a game that brought out the best we’ve seen in Wilson since his brace on his Old Trafford debut.

Josh Harrop looks to claim a starting place in the side after an impressive run out against City after coming on as a substitute. Youngster Callum Evans looked more than comfortable having to fill in at left-back and will, like Harrop, be hoping to be a name on the team sheet come kick off.

Angelo Henriquez will be the only player missing from Warren Joyce’s side after the striker agreed to join Russian club Dinamo Zagreb on a season-long loan.

After United’s brilliant win over City, they’ve got the quality and belief to overcome Norwich tonight.
