Player Ratings: Burnley 0-0 Manchester United: Di Maria sparkles on dull day

by Sam Peoples

David de Gea 6 – Good when called upon, which wasn’t much.

Ashley Young 4 – He is such a poor wing-back. In complete contrast to his pre-season form, Young has reverted to how he played last year.

Tyler Blackett 5.5 – Lacks confidence to play it out well from the back. Resorted to a lot of long balls which turned over possession.

Phil Jones 6 – Needed to run out of defence more with the ball, as did Blackett and Evans.

Jonny Evans 5 – Looking really shaky and unpredictable at the moment, shades of a pre 2012/13 Evans are creeping through.

Antonio Valencia 4 – Such a bad crosser of the ball. Had so many chances to create opportunities for United but more often than not he completely threw them away.

Darren Fletcher 4.5 – Sentiment aside, Fletcher should be part of United’s squad and not our regular starter. Not good enough to play week-in-week-out.

Angel di Maria 6.5 – Confident debut from the Argentinian. Had the drive and pace to actually make things happen.

Juan Mata 5 – Very quiet from the Spaniard. Isolated due to long ball tactics but poor when did receive the ball.

Wayne Rooney 5 – Rooney is not playing like a captain at the moment.

Robin van Persie 5 – Clear not 100% fit. Movement isn’t there, nor is the finishing.

Danny Welbeck 6 – United looked better once he was on. Should have started instead of Van Persie.

Anderson 5 – Came on to give extra legs in midfield but didn’t do much to change the outlook of the game.

Adnan Januzaj – n/a
