Manchester United have agreed a deal with Ajax to sign Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
The 16-year-old youngster was scouted by United back in April at the AEGON Future Cup, as we revealed back in July, and will become part of United’s Academy squad.
According to United’s official website, Mensah requires an International Transfer Certificate in order to make his debut but once that has been ratified, he will be free to play.
At 16, Mensah is still very raw but like 17-year-old Saidy Janko before United signed him, he has shown enough promise for United to offer him a contract.
Mensah is described as a ‘versatile defender’ and that is a bit of a buzz word for youngsters because at such a young age, players rarely tend to have a nailed set position. As this compilation video shows, Mensah is very adept in both attack and defence and that versatility will help him progress through the lower ranks.
