Tom Cleverley waiting on Premier League approval for Aston Villa loan

Tom Cleverley was unable to complete a move away from Manchester United last night but is now waiting for approval from the Premier League to complete a loan move to Aston Villa, Andy Mitten has reported.

Cleverley’s move to Villa fell through yesterday over wage demands but with Everton interested, the 25-year-old had other options.

However, when United failed to agree with the Merseyside club over whether a deal would be permanent or a loan move, Cleverley remained a United player when the transfer deadline closed.

Now it is believed Cleverley signed a loan deal late last night with Villa and is waiting for approval to complete the move.

The signing of a deal with Villa indicates Cleverley agreed to lower his wage demands to accommodate the move which is the best move he could have done for his career.

Fans were openly critical of Cleverley last night as it seemed he had chosen to remain on the bench with a higher wage packet than playing for Villa for less money and rightly so if that had been the case.

However, it now seems Cleverley made the decision to take lower wages in order to play more first-team football and as long as he gets approval, he’ll be moving to Villa Park.
