Ander Herrera will be available for Manchester United game against QPR

Ander Herrera has been training hard and is in contention to make a return for Manchester United this weekend.

The midfielder has been out of action after injuring himself during training in the week building up to the game against Sunderland.

In his absence, United have been worryingly weak in midfield as Darren Fletcher has been unable to marshal it on his own due to Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini also being injured.

Earlier this week, David de Gea revealed Herrera was likely to be ready for the weekend and it certainly looks that way.

Herrera was one of United’s outstanding players on the pre-season tour so it will be a timely boost to have him back available for selection.

There is a growing feeling among fans that a midfield partnership of Herrera and Blind could prove fruitful and give United a genuine midfield presence that the squad hasn’t had for a long time.

Louis van Gaal is unlikely to rush any player back from injury but if Herrera is declared fit, then he is an almost guaranteed starter for QPR this weekend.
