Falcao aiming to win the league with Man Utd this season

Radamel Falcao has made it clear his ambition is to win the Premier League title with Manchester United this season.

The 28-year-old became United’s sixth signing this summer to complete a massive overhaul of the squad that finished 7th in the league under David Moyes.

Most United fans feel that the Premier League title is out of reach this season but Falcao is only aiming for titles and silverware at Old Trafford.

“[My target is] to score goals and win titles,” he told FourFourTwo.

“The aim this season is to win the title. It is important for me to help my club and Colombia as we prepare for the Copa America and the next World Cup for 2018.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world. The best players are there and you get to challenge yourself each week against the best.

“That is important for a player, like myself, who is looking to improve, score more goals and win trophies. This is a great opportunity for me.”

You can’t fault Falcao for his ambition and if he can match it with a lot of goals, then who knows if United could surprise everybody this season despite the odds being firmly stacked against them.

Falcao also hailed the quality of Louis van Gaal and feels he is the perfect type of manager to get the best out of his players: “We all saw at the World Cup that Van Gaal is one of the best managers in the world. I think he is the type of person who understands his players and gets the most out of them – that is important in order for a player, and also for a team in general to succeed.”
