The 19-year-old was used as a left winger by David Moyes season but had a natural tendency to cut inside wherever possible because that’s where his real ball playing strengths come into.
With Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney also able to play in the No.10 role, Januzaj faces some stiff competition but he is happy to fight for his place and has rubbished reports of leaving a club that he loves.
“No. 10.of course,” Januzaj told Squawka in an exclusive interview.
“That’s my preferred position but I’m happy to play anywhere for the manager. I saw some reports saying I was unhappy, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I love this club and I’m excited to play for this manager. The fans have been so good to me and I want to repay them.”
The affectionate feeling for Januzaj is mutual among United fans and they are all keen to see how much he can progress under Van Gaal.
The Dutchman has a proven track record of bringing through some of the world’s talented youngsters and Januzaj has the talent to follow in the footsteps of world class players Clarence Seedorf, Xavi and Thomas Muller who have come through under Van Gaal.
