Patrice Evra has said he left Manchester United because of personal problems this summer and insisted Juventus was the only club he wanted to sign for.
Despite signing a one-year contract extension with United, Evra left the club to join Juventus to end his eight-and-a-half year career at Old Trafford.
Luke Shaw‘s arrival was always considered by many as the turning point in Evra’s career given that he’d have to play back-up but speaking about the move, Evra only singled out personal issues as why he had to leave.
“I went away from Manchester because of personal problems and the only team that I wanted was Juventus,” he said.
“They are a club which have a history and important goals. (Former Juventus’ coach, Antonio) Conte had called me many times to convince me, now I’m at Juventus and I’m happy.
“Here I can continue with a big club, I saw no differences compared to United.
“The physical preparation has been very hard, maybe the hardest I’ve ever done.”
It was sad to see Evra leave United but he now seems to be settling in well at his new club Juventus, so hopefully he can enjoy a good few years there before hanging his boots up.
