Manchester United potential formation – Falcao, Rooney and RVP start, no Mata

by Sam Peoples

Luke Shaw returned to Manchester United’s squad against Queens Park Rangers last weekend but it remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to start against Leicester City at the weekend.

With that in mind, here’s a potential United lineup for the game on Sunday with Marcos Rojo filling in at left-back once again, leaving Tyler Blackett and Jonny Evans in central defence.

In this formation, the biggest change certainly comes up front and it will be a controversial one as Juan Mata is the player to miss out in order to accommodate Wayne Rooney, Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie.

We don’t think Louis van Gaal will drop a player who has scored eight goals in his last 10 Premier League appearances but anything can happen in football and if he wants to accommodate United’s big name three strikers, Mata is first in line to hand over his place in the starting XI.
