Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to speculation he is set to rejoin Manchester United by insisting his future remains at Real Madrid.
The current Ballon d’Or holder has been heavily linked with a return to Old Trafford ever since speculation indicated he was frustrated in Madrid following the sales of players such as Mesut Ozil, Xabi Alonso and Angel di Maria.
Ronaldo only recently signed a five-year contract with Madrid and has now once again insisted he is currently happy at Madrid, downplaying speculation he is set to leave in the near future.
Speaking after Madrid’s most recent game, Ronaldo said: “It’s all speculation, speaking about my future…My future is Madrid. I’m happy.
“The season is going well and I’m not talking about my future, it doesn’t make sense.”
After United’s record spending summer in which over £150m was spent, rumours that a potential move for Ronaldo have gathered pace.
United fans are currently undecided as to whether a move for Ronaldo makes sense given the plethora of attacking talent that was bought in the most recent transfer window but the money is certainly there if United did decide to try and bring Ronaldo home.
Some ‘fans’ have even gone as far as to organise plane banners to fly over Madrid’s game at the weekend to show how much they want Ronaldo to return to United but they have been met by overwhelming opposition.
As is always the case with transfer rumours like this, they will continue to gather pace and will do all the way through to the end of next summer’s transfer window.
