Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick back in training after injuries

Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick took part in full training this week to ease Manchester United’s injury troubles in midfield.

As we discussed yesterday, Fellaini is fighting to get back into action as soon as possible and although some reports suggest he’s still some way away, Belgium boss Marc Wilmots has insisted he is once again fully fit.

“He lacks match fitness, but he’s hungry,” Wilmots said today.

Whether Fellaini is fit enough by Louis van Gaal‘s standards is something different altogether.

As for Carrick, it’s fantastic to see him back in more full-on training. He has been running on grass for the past couple of weeks but he’s now back involved with the squad.

Van Gaal has bemoaned United’s ability to retain possession when in the lead and Carrick’s return would give him the perfect substitution to bring on
