Saidy Janko trained with Manchester United’s first-team this week to continue his fine progression as a player this season.
The 18-year-old may have been disappointed his debut against MK Dons in the 4-0 defeat didn’t go to plan but he’s making great strides towards becoming a squad player under Louis van Gaal.
Janko arrived last summer from FC Zurich and impressed Nicky Butt and Warren Joyce so much so that he was fast-tracked into the Under-21s despite being just 17.
As well as Janko the likes of Tom Thorpe, Marnick Vermijl and Paddy McNair also trained with the first-team.
It has reached the stage now where it almost seems that another academy player gets put into the limelight every week and it’s absolutely fantastic to see.
Some managers can proclaim they value the youth but do very little in terms of giving them opportunities but Van Gaal is doing his utmost to give them their chances.
