Manchester United missing nine players for Everton game through injury and suspension

The latest Manchester United injury list contains eight players meaning that, along with Wayne Rooney, nine players are unavailable for Everton this weekend.

Ashley Young, Michael Carrick, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Reece James, Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera are the eight players in question.

United have struggled all season with injuries and that trend has continued into this game week.

“We have eight injuries and one red card so nine players are not available,” Van Gaal told reporters this afternoon.

“It’s difficult to explain. You can be fit but not match fit – that’s a big difference. For example, Ander Herrera is fit but he cannot play because of his rib pressure. Marouane Fellaini has trained for one week but is not fit to play 90 minutes.”

Although international breaks are an inconvenience for fans, this one could be a blessing in disguise for United’s current injury woes as players will have an opportunity to fully recover in time for United’s upcoming fixtures against West Brom and Chelsea.
