Falcao wants to repay Manchester United after taking a gamble on him

Radamel Falcao knows Manchester United gambled on his fitness when they signed him from AS Monaco this summer and is keen to repay the belief that was shown in him by committing his long term future to the club.

The Colombian striker missed the World Cup after suffering a knee injury in January and there were concerns about whether there would be long-term damage left behind.

Despite that, United paid £6m to sign Falcao on loan for the season and he is thankful that United gambled he would be able to return to his best form.

Speaking about his injury, Falcao said: “I would rather not to talk about that. It is already past and I have to look to the future. I have to look to Manchester United. I am very happy here.

“There were many talks and speculations but Manchester United were the ones that gambled on me when it was very difficult to do so. I really appreciate that. I am in one of the best clubs in the world.

“In terms of my thoughts and plans for the future, I want to stay at Manchester United for the coming years.”

It’s not the first time Falcao has insisted he wants to remain at United in the long term and it is clear he has no desire to leave in the near future.

Of course, United signed Falcao on loan as it gave them a safety net were his injury to flair up again but he is certain Louis van Gaal is the right man to help him achieve that: “The amount of new signings have prevented us to have an easy adaptation.

“Some players arrived when the Premier League had already started. But we are progressing and playing better.”
