Robin van Persie scored a penalty to help give the Netherlands a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in their Euro 2016 qualifier.

The striker made no mistake from the penalty spot with a sweet finish but the Netherlands had to fight back after going 1-0 down to Kazakhstan and did so by scoring three in reply.

Any goal will help rebuild Van Persie’s confidence so it’s good to see him on the score sheet and speaking after the game, the Dutchman insisted there was no panic after Kazakhstan went ahead.

He said: “I had a good feeling about the way we played, how we distributed the ball. We created a lot of chances so a goal was coming.”

Daley Blind also completed the full 90 minutes in a left-back position he is familiar playing with the Netherlands, as he showed at the World Cup under Louis van Gaal.

As is always the case with international breaks, the main focus is United’s players coming through without injury and they both came through their game with Kazakhstan unscathed.
