Dani Alves: I’m going to play in the Premier League next year

Dani Alves has every intention of moving to the Premier League this summer and put an end to his time at Barcelona.

The 31-year-old will be a free agent in the summer as his contract with the Spanish side expires and reports in the past week have linked him with a move to Manchester United.

Guillem Balague played down the possibility of a potential move to United and instead insisted that the Brazilian was looking for an improved contract but back at the end of September, Alves made it abundantly clear he had every intention of leaving for England this year.

“This will be my last season at Barça,” he said according to O Globo.

“Next year I’m moving to England. I want to play in the birthplace of football.”

We have already nailed our colours to the mast with this particular rumour and don’t believe he would improve United enough to warrant the substantial wages he’d demand as a free agent.

However, Alves does seem set on a move to the Premier League, so expect these rumours to continue until a point comes where Van Gaal or Alves himself quashes them.
