Luke Shaw looking forward to playing against Chelsea on Sunday

Born in London, Luke Shaw grew up in a family of Chelsea-supporters and the 19-year-old is looking forward to getting an opportunity to face the London club on Sunday.

Shaw has had some great moments for Manchester United this season but is struggling to find the consistency which players at the top level need, something he showed he could do during his time at Southampton.

However, he is confident that his performances will improve and is determined to play better in upcoming games, starting with Chelsea on Sunday.

“Playing against Chelsea is a big thing in my family and among my friends because I was born around that area of London,” he said.

“I used to watch them when I was younger, which is something I’m sure people know by now.

“When I first played at Stamford Bridge with Southampton it was a bit of a surreal experience in a lot of ways because it was at a ground I’d visited as a kid.

“But playing against Chelsea with United at Old Trafford is a different proposition altogether. I’m really looking forward to it, especially with how big this fixture is. Everyone knows that United-Chelsea games are massive, so it’s something I’m really looking forward to.”

It will be the biggest game Shaw has played in his United career so far and he will certainly need to improve on his West Brom performance if he is to stop Chelsea scoring.

Chelsea are currently undefeated at the top of the Premier League and a win against Jose Mourinho’s side could be a game changer for United’s confidence going forward, and Shaw is keen to make sure he does what he can to help United secure the win.

He added: “It’s a huge game – I think you can safely say it’s one of the biggest games in world football and there will be people everywhere watching it on TV.

“There aren’t many games that are bigger than this one and that’s why I’m really hoping to be a part of it. I want to show people what I can do in games like this.”
