Louis van Gaal offers Victor Valdes chance to train with Manchester United to overcome injury problems

Victor Valdes has been offered the opportunity to train with Manchester United by Louis van Gaal in order to help him overcome injury troubles.

Manchester United have confirmed the offer which will see the 32-year-old link up with his old manager Van Gaal and goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek, both of whom were at Barcelona when Valdes was there.

The move by Van Gaal to offer supervised recovery sessions by United’s medical staff may well simply be a gesture to Valdes to help but Anders Lindegaard’s agent made it abundantly clear he was actively looking for a new club in the summer, so Valdes could join in January on a free transfer.

Having another Spaniard around wouldn’t do David de Gea or the other Spanish players any harm and Valdes arriving certainly wouldn’t change anything in the future of De Gea who has reiterated how happy he is at the club.
