Here’s the latest Manchester United news from today including reports from Colombia about the extent of Radamel Falcao’s injury and Juventus managing director Giuseppe Marotta insisting they were close to signing Falcao in the summer.

When it was revealed Falcao was ruled out of Manchester United’s game against Chelsea the worst was feared. Speaking after the game, Louis van Gaal insisted his injury was not too serious and now reports from Colombia suggest he could face up to two weeks on the sidelines. If that was the case, Falcao would be be ruled out of the derby against Manchester City this weekend.

Sticking with the topic of Falcao, Juventus managing director Giuseppe Marotta has said the Italian club were close to signing Falcao during the summer but only missed out on sealing the deal because they couldn’t match United’s financial power. Marotta actually went one step further to suggest Falcao’s first choice of club was actually Juventus was his first choice of club.

Marouane Fellaini was named United’s Man of the Match against Chelsea after receiving 47% of the fans’ vote to continue his recent revival in form. The Belgian midfielder is showing the sort of form which suggests he may have a future at United after all.

Meanwhile, United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has joined Doncaster Rovers on loan until January. He was not going to get any first-team action this season so a loan move was the best idea for him to gain some real experience.
