Robin van Persie thanks Man United fans for support and atmosphere against Chelsea

Robin van Persie has thanked Manchester United’s fans for their support and helping make the electric atmosphere inside Old Trafford against Chelsea.

It was the biggest game of the season so far and Van Persie’s last minute equaliser in front of the Stretford End saw bedlam sweep across the stadium.

After the struggles of last year under David Moyes, that sense of scoring a last minute goal in such an important game wasn’t one which United fans had been treated to in a while.

Nothing beats that feeling, nothing beats the mayhem in the stands and the overspill of emotion from fans and players alike. It was a deserved goal as well as United had been on top for large spells against Chelsea.

Now, Van Persie has immediately got his eyes set on United’s trip to the Etihad Stadium next weekend in Louis van Gaal‘s first Manchester derby and the Dutchman will be hoping for a repeat of his derby debut.

As well as being important for United, Van Persie’s goal could be instrumental for him mentally. The Dutchman has been hampered all season with fitness and form problems so to score a goal like that may end up being the kickstart his season needed.
