Daley Blind scores great goal for Holland which showcased his attacking qualities

by Sam Peoples

Daley Blind emphatically answered his critics with a great goal for Holland against Mexico last night.

The Dutch midfielder unleashed a shot from a good distance outside of the box and helped on by a slight deflection from a defender, he found the back of the net.

After a week where Blind was criticised by both Paul Scholes and Gordon McQueen for not having enough attacking impetus, it was the perfect time for Blind to go and score a goal.

Not only was it a goal from Blind but it was a chance he created and took himself with confidence. Good on him.

Of course, Blind has already scored for United this season as he slotted home United’s equaliser in the 2-2 draw against West Brom.

Scholes and McQueen’s criticism of Blind failed to take into context his role in the team under Louis van Gaal and what his goal against Mexico showed is that if he has the freedom to go forward, not only is he capable of creating goals but can score them too when the opportunity arises.
