Cristiano Ronaldo back in Manchester for Portugal friendly against Argentina

by Sam Peoples

Donning a ‘Born and Bred’ baseball cap, Cristiano Ronaldo landed in Manchester Airport ahead of Portugal’s friendly against Argentina tomorrow.

It will be only the second time Ronaldo has played at Old Trafford since 2009 and the first time Ronaldo lines up against his old team-mate Angel di Maria since he moved to United in the summer.

Ronaldo will come into the friendly in typically strong goalscoring form and he is on course to win the Ballon d’Or for the second year running ahead of Lionel Messi.

Obviously, Ronaldo’s hat was a reference to United rather than Portugal, just in case you were wondering. He may have been born in Portugal but it wasn’t until he joined United that he fulfilled his potential.

This international break has been a dire one for United thanks to De Gea, Carrick and Blind suffering injuries but a friendly with the likes of Ronaldo, Di Maria and Messi at Old Trafford should at least provide some entertainment ahead of the wait until Saturday’s game against Arsenal.
