Man Utd fans delighted to see Rooney back to his best

Manchester United fans will have been glad to see their captain bring his recent international form to the Emirates as the captain inspired the away side to three points in a 2-1 victory.

As ever, Rooney was the engine in the side’s attack and wrapped up the win with a deft chip after being played through by Angel Di Maria. His celebration for the opening goal summed up the passion inside Rooney despite the fact he played no role in move which put Manchester United ahead.

Rooney’s goal meant he was the top scorer in Premier League history against Arsenal, moving ahead of Robbie Fowler after the pair had previously been tied on ten goals each.

There’s few players in the club’s history that polarise opinions like the current captain but praise for Rooney was in high demand after the win.

Questions were asked over his place in the team after a red card against West Ham saw him miss the whole of October but a break seems to have allowed Rooney to recapture top form.

With a good run of fixtures coming up, Louis van Gaal will hope his captain continues to lead Manchester United up the table.
