Manchester United’s injury curse seems to be club wide as Josh Harrop had to be taken off early on last night against Blackburn Rovers in the Lancashire Senior Cup.
The 18-year-old midfielder didn’t injure himself in a tackle and actually pulled up holding his hip which can sometimes be worse, and it forced him straight down the tunnel.
Harrop was back out on the bench later in the game which was a good sign but fans are hoping that it is nothing too serious for Harrop because he has enjoyed a fine season of progress. Having broken through into Warren Joyce’s U21s squad, Harrop kept Joe Rothwell on the bench at times and was rewarded for his good football with a call-up to England’s U20s.
At United, Harrop has established himself as a member of the U21s squad and has coped well with the step-up in age be’s got plenty of competition around him to try and catch the attention of Louis van Gaal for a first-team opportunity.
Not only did Harrop injure himself last night but captain Tom Thorpe did as well, so the injury woes are certainly not just with the senior team by the looks of things.
