Preston North End are interested in signing Ben Pearson on loan from Manchester United according to reports.
The 19-year-old midfielder has been an important member of Warren Joyce’s U21s squad for the last two seasons and was rewarded for his excellent form in 2012/13 by being named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.
Although the likes of Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair and Reece James have been able to break through into United’s first team this season, Pearson hasn’t been given the same opportunities. Whether that is a consequence of his niggling fitness issues or Louis van Gaal feeling he isn’t ready remains unknown but at this stage of his career, a loan move would be great.

Pearson is a fantastic midfielder to watch with a style of play that kicks back to the no nonsense pre-Premier League top flight where strong tackles were two a penny. As an all-round midfielder, Pearson has got so much promise.
The likes of Danny Welbeck and Jonny Evans show how a loan spell can open up the doors to United, so it would be good for Pearson to spread his wings and move away from the comfortable environment of U21s football.
