Giggs handed Wilson his first team debut in May whilst he was caretaker manager of the club after David Moyes was sacked in April.
Wilson, who turns 19 next week, scored two goals on his debut and has gone on to make further first team appearances under Louis van Gaal this season without adding to his tally.
But the youngster has continued to shine in the U21s side and has shown glimpses of his talent when replacing the struggling Robin van Persie late in games when defences are stretched where his pace can cause plenty of issues for players.
Speaking to talkSPORT about the launch of his new DVD, Life of Ryan, Giggs said of Wilson: “He’s a brilliant prospect.
“I’ve always said about younger players that you can give them the chance but they have got to take it. I’ve seen players take it and not let go, but I’ve also seen players given the chance and they throw it away. You might only get one chance so you’ve got to be ready for it.”
Hull City are again the visitors to Old Trafford this weekend and with van Persie struggling for form and goals it could be the perfect opportunity to give Wilson his first start of the season.
If not, United host Stoke City on Tuesday night and it would now come as a surprise if Wilson didn’t start at least one of those given van Persie’s form and fitness.
