Ander Herrera sent a message of thanks to Manchester United fans who voted him as Man of the Match against Hull City this weekend.
The Spaniard came on a substitute after Angel di Maria went off with a hamstring injury and was instrumental in United’s comfortable 3-0 win from his role in central midfield.
Alongside Michael Carrick, Herrera ensured United dominated possession and his excellent movement and energy showed just how influential he can be.
Prior to coming on against Hull, Herrera was an unused substitute in the last four games for United and questions were being asked about why he was being overlooked for Marouane Fellaini.
Fitness seemed to be the issue as he played a game with the U21s in the week leading up and scored in an emphatic 5-0 win over Blackburn, a game he would otherwise never have played if he was fully fit.
Herrera’s excellent performance against Hull was all the more impressive when you consider he hadn’t played since the 2-2 draw against West Brom and he has put himself in contention to start the upcoming games against Southampton and Liverpool.
