Robin van Persie’s screamer against Hull City at the weekend was an emphatic way for the Dutchman to showcase just why Louis van Gaal has continued to place faith in him.
Without a moments hesitation, Van Persie unleashed an unstoppable shot that rifled into the net before Allan McGregor was able to blink.
No goalkeeper in the world would have been able to stop the shot and at over 67mph, it was travelling at some speed too.
Nothing changes the fact James Wilson certainly deserved to start ahead of Van Persie against Hull but Van Gaal’s decision to stick with Van Persie paid off.
What Van Persie has to do now is use that goal as a catalyst and transform his season. Fans were hoping his goal against Chelsea would do that but it didn’t. However, with Radamel Falcao now breathing down his neck, Van Persie knows he won’t be afforded so many opportunities this time around.
