Arjen Robben has been named as one potential Manchester United transfer target for Louis van Gaal this summer, reports The Guardian.
Rumours over the Dutch star reuniting with his former boss at Old Trafford began as soon as vcom/2014/07/13/robben-lvg-said-theres-place-manchester-united-48403/” target=”_blank”>place for him at the club.
United first tried to bring Robben to the club as a highly-rated Eredivisie star at PSV Eindhoven ten years ago but Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich’s revolution at Stamford Bridge was deemed a more attractive proposition by the winger.
The story from The Guardian suggests Van Gaal wants to bring in a winger and despite links to another Dutch star in Memphis Depay, Robben is apparently a top target despite the fact the 31-year-old would command a large fee with little sell-on value.
Whilst a move for either seems unlikely given Robben’s unwillingness to move and Bayern’s stranglehold over the top talents in Bundesliga, United and van Gaal may have to look elsewhere for a winger next summer.
