Angel di Maria is set to return for Manchester United against Liverpool this weekend according to reports.
The 26-year-old Argentinian has been missing from United’s last two games and although Louis van Gaal‘s side has been able to keep their winning streak going, the performances have been far from convincing.
Di Maria’s absence was particularly apparent in the 2-1 win over Southampton as without him in the team, United’s counter-attacking threat was blunted. Nobody has the pace of Di Maria, apart from Di Maria himself.
There is no official confirmation from United but Di Maria being back for Liverpool ties into what Van Gaal said about Di Maria ahead of the Southampton game:
“It’s not a bad injury, but I am not a doctor,” Van Gaal said, when asked about Di Maria’s hamstring injury.
“I have to say it like a manager, not like a doctor. But I think he shall recover very quickly.
For your biggest games, you want your biggest players and it would be fantastic news for Di Maria be back in action because of how influential he has been this season.
