Liverpool has a habit of putting their foot in it with some of the things their players and managers come out with.
Alan Hansen’s famous “You’ll never win anything with kids” comment just at the start of Manchester United’s Class of ’92 rise is one that deservedly saw him ridiculed and back in 1994, Liverpool’s fans had a message for United: Come back when you’ve won 18 titles.
United then went on to match and equal Liverpool’s record of 18 English league titles and at Old Trafford on Sunday, a few United fans had a message for inspiration club captain Steven Gerrard: Come back when you’ve won one.
The difference this time around is that Gerrard had his opportunity to win the Premier League last year but slipped up just when it mattered the most. There’ll be no comeback banner from the Liverpool fans about this one.
Unfortunately, United’s stewards inside Old Trafford removed the banner as it didn’t meet fire safety regulations.
