Man Utd relaxed about De Gea contract

Manchester United are confident that David De Gea‘s future lies at Old Trafford and are relaxed about his current contract situation.

The Spanish goalkeeper’s current contract runs out in 2016 and come this time next year De Gea will be free to speak to other clubs if his contract situation at Old Trafford is still unresolved.

Senior sources at Old Trafford don’t seem flustered by the current situation despite Louis van Gaal‘s refusal to be pressed on the subject after Sunday’s victory over Liverpool.

De Gea was once again the star man despite a 3-0 win in which the no.1 saved several times from both Raheem Sterling and half-time substitute Mario Balotelli.

The man himself has stated he is aware of interest from Real Madrid and United will hope his prior history with city rivals Atletico deter De Gea from making such a move.

The 24-year-old signed for United from the current La Liga champions in 2011 in a move making him the third most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

Wayne Rooney described his team mate as the best in the world earlier this week, describing his recent performances as ‘fantastic’.

If United are to extend their winning run to seven this weekend against Aston Villa, De Gea will once again play a key role.
