Falcao happy to stay at United but wants more playing time

Radamel Falcao has discussed his lack of game time at Manchester United and while he revealed he is happy to stay at the club, he made it clear he wanted more minutes on the pitch.

Since returning from injury, Falcao has had to settle for substitute appearances and thanks to resurgent Robin van Persie, even those opportunities have been very limited.

James Wilson started for United against Liverpool on Sunday which either indicates Louis van Gaal doesn’t feel Falcao is ready or doesn’t have confidence in him.

Either way, Falcao is looking to get more game time and establish himself at United as a regular first-team player before committing to anything long-term: “I want to stay here for many years and make history in this club.

“From my point of view, yes I want to stay, but obviously I have to analyse the situation, see if I play more and see what decision the board takes. But I really want to stay.”

Van Gaal will be just as keen for Falcao to get game time because United won’t be able to commit to signing him unless they have every confidence he is worth the investment. At this stage, United wouldn’t be able to justify it.

Looking ahead to the second half of the season, United fans are hoping to see the real Falcao that earned a reputation as one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football. If the Colombian doesn’t show that sort of form, there will certainly be some doubts as to whether United could warrant a permanent deal this summer.
