Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has praised the patience of Radamel Falcao amidst talk of whether or not the popular South American will stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.
Falcao spoke out earlier today about his frustrations over a lack of game time but also confirmed he wants to say at the club when his loan deal expires in the summer of 2015.
The striker once again came off the bench against Liverpool and will be hoping he’ll get the chance to impress from the start over the Christmas period.
The last time Falcao started a match was back in October against Everton when he scored the winner in a narrow 2-1 victory but Mata feels Falcao is training well and will take his opportunity when it comes around: “He is training very well, he is waiting for his opportunity like the great professional he is, like the great team-mate he is.
“And it makes me happy that he played and it will make me even happier if he can score.”
The saving grace for United supporters is that Falcao’s recent injury issues are unrelated to the serious knee injury he picked up with AS Monaco earlier in 2014. The injury caused the 28-year-old to miss the World Cup but his recent injury was a calf problem picked up at United.
